The Best Area Rugs For Your Home

You guys know how much I love hardwood flooring in all the rooms in my house. No tile, no carpet, just my hardwood flooring! Although it’s a great flooring option to keep clean as a parent of three kids, it’s not the most cozy or comfortable thing to have under your feet. In order to add warmth to my space, I have an area rug in every single room of the house! Picking out the perfect area rug can be tricky, but I got you covered!

Living Room Rug

Our living room is very neutral– filled with beiges, browns, and whites. I wanted a pop of color, but not too much. The Blake Sky/Beige rug is a perfect mix of warm and cool tones that creates an almost neutral color palette which is so relaxing… and that’s EXACTLY how I want my living room to feel.

Dining Room Rug

The dining space is one of the first rooms you see when you enter my house. The goal I had with this space was to create an inviting space that feels super modern. Because I completely transformed this room, choosing an area rug was a challenge to match the limewash walls, big window panels, and gold hues. Ultimately I chose the Natural/Black Colton rug because it definitely carries some traditional elements that still look sophisticated.

Primary Bedroom Rug

I am still in the middle of transforming my bedroom, but wanted to make my primary bedroom all about me and really dug into my own personal style. The Aqua/Sand rug was the perfect pattern and matched the style of my room and really feels like its own art piece. Plus, my daughter Aubrey really wanted her rug to be in my room!

Blake’s Bedroom Rug

My son’s bedroom is a mix of modern and geometric styles while still being pretty minimalistic. When choosing a rug, I decided that a pattern rug would clash too much, but a solid rug was pretty underwhelming. We chose the Blake Taupe/Black rug because of the colors and texture. (Not to mention it is named after him).

Colton’s Bedroom Rug

Colton’s bedroom has some similar vibes to Blake’s room but choosing a rug for him was a little bit easier since I had a clearer vision. We chose the Aubrey Sage/Bark rug that has neutral coloring with pretty geometric patterns.

Aubrey’s Bedroom Rug

The print of Aubrey’s rug totally matches the personality and girliness of a little girls room while still maintaining an elegance of a modern area rug. Although my daughter has different accents in her room, this rug is neutral enough to go with any decor if we switch it up. Plus the terracotta goes perfectly with her pink velvet bed!

Spring Refresh: 10 Easy Tips to Upgrade Your Home This Spring!

After months of cold, rainy, and maybe even snowy weather, many of us feel the urge to revamp and refresh our homes in anticipation of the new season (hence the term “spring cleaning”)… I know I do! It can often be difficult to know where to begin when wanting to freshen up your space.

If you’re looking to spruce up your house this spring without breaking the bank or making a drastic change, here are 10 easy ways to refresh your space!

Sprinkle in Brighter Spring Colors (Subtly)

I know, dark cozy colors feel so right in the winter, but it’s time to swap them out for some brighter neutrals or pastels. Changing your area rug for something brighter is such an easy way to incorporate a pop of color into your space.

The Jade Natural area rug from my Angela Rose x Loloi collection is the perfect rug for those modern home designs that love dressing up in neutral tones. It is so versatile, which is why it is one of the most popular rugs from the Aubrey Collection. It has a chunky border and is full of subtle vibes.

Decorate with Plants

One of the simplest ways to refresh your home for spring and update a room is by adding a houseplant or fresh bouquet of flowers. Decorating with plants is an easy way to freshen up and elevate every room in your home. You could easily add a floral centerpiece onto your kitchen table or a nightstand-friendly house plant to a nightstand.

For those of you who don’t have a green thumb (aka me) you can always decorate with faux plants! Faux plants are often inexpensive and if done the right way, they can look extremely convincing.

4 tips for making faux plants look realistic:

  1. Choose your plants wisely
  2. Add some dirt to the pot
  3. Fluff the branches
  4. Place in the right space

Looking to add greenery to your home but don’t know where to start? Here is a great faux olive tree option that comes with an affordable price tag.

Add Wallpaper

Over the years, wallpaper has made a comeback and I agree it should be here to stay! Wallpapers are one of the easiest ways to change up and upgrade a space in your home. Did you know that you can get removable wallpaper? In my dining room, I wanted to create a Great Hall inspired by Harry Potter for Thanksgiving. My boys LOVE Harry Potter! There are so many awesome seasonal wallpaper options! I would suggest using a floral or bright abstract option!

When you’re just starting out with wallpaper, there are a lot of things to think about! I am now a self-proclaimed wallpaper expert and have broken down how to use wallpaper in a previous post.

I have been loving the look of these brass cabinet knobs and the brass hardware I used all over my kitchen. Liven Up Your Porch

Are you guilty of still having your wintery doormat on your porch? Outdoor decor does not have to be saved for the holidays! Swap out your holiday doormat for a brighter and more cheerful one like this mat from West Elm! You can also add a spring wreath like this one from Pottery Barn to your door as a reminder that all seasons should be celebrated!!

Swap Your Pillows

Storing all of last season’s pillows is quite the undertaking, but that’s what pillow covers were created for! Pillow covers are such an easy way to instantly switch up your spring decor. The covers don’t have to be expensive either! Amazon has great options. I made a list of my favorite spring pillow covers here!

Switch Out Your Candles

It’s time to switch out your Gingerbread holiday candles for something a little more spring-friendly. Candles are a great way to liven up any room of the house. If you’re someone who loves scents go for a floral or citrus candle, but if you’re someone who can’t stand smells, go for an unscented candle in a pretty pastel jar.

Upgrade Your Lighting

Spring Refresh: 10 easy tips to upgrade your home this spring

Is your ceiling still holding an old light fixture you’ve had for years? Spring is a great time to rejuvenate your ceiling with something a little lighter and brighter. A light chandelier transforms a space like a living room or dining room and acts as a beautiful centerpiece for your ceiling.

Switch Up Your Wall Art

Exchanging a few art pieces around your house is a great way to liven up your spaces. One of my favorite ways to cover walls, especially in the bedrooms, is to hang tapestries. They are so low-maintenance and easy to switch out whenever you feel the need!

That’s it! 10 easy ways to refresh your home this Spring. Which one are you going to try first? If you’re looking for other DIY inspiration, make sure you are following me on Instagram and TikTok. I am always sharing what projects I am working on and would love to have you hang out with me!
