Do you know someone who wants to make those Pinterest board dreams come true? Or someone who’s ready to pick up a few power tools? Are you that person? 3 years ago I started sharing my DIY projects on Instagram and what an amazing journey it’s been. Now I’m doing things like renovating my entire kitchen and turning my dining room into the Hogwarts Great Hall. It’s crazy. The best advice I have for the beginning DIYer is to just start. And to help I’ve got 8 gift ideas for the DIYer.
DIY Hogwarts Great Hall Thanksgiving
Operation DIY Hogwarts Great Hall Thanksgiving is complete and I am here for it! I haven’t been this excited about a project in a while and I love how it turned out. Are you as excited to see these pictures as I am to share them? I’ve been asked, why create a Hogwarts-inspired Thanksgiving? Well, a big reason for this project was my kids. They are obsessed with Harry Potter, especially my kid Blake (watch this video to see his reaction). So why not turn this space into the Hogwarts Great Hall? I had to bust it in real-time to finish this room in time for Thanksgiving this year. Now that the holiday has passed, I can share all of the details with you.
Loft Playroom DIY Reveal
Wow, it’s finally done!! Last year I decided to transform this space into the perfect playroom for my kids. I thought the space was really cool already (I mean look at those before and after pictures below). But I still felt like there were some details missing to give it that magic. So I picked up my tools and got back to work. Before sharing the full loft playroom DIY reveal, let me take you through the process.
Brooke’s Bedroom Makeover
Well, WE DID IT! In just 48 short hours, my super talented friends (Lindsay @frills_and_drills and Mysha @remingtonavenue) and I flew to Utah and transformed my niece’s bedroom into a space she never wants to leave! This will never get old to me. I love the transformation process, and the emotional lift that creating gives. This “old and boring room that looked like a T-REX stomped on it” now looks like “magical fairies came in and did my room!” according to Brooke. I am thrilled with how this space came together. It’s simple, it’s magical, it’s PERFECT.

DIY Quote Wall Reveal
The garage needed an upgrade, so I decided to epoxy the floors and paint a GIANT quote on one of the walls. Spontaneous, right? I spend so much time in my garage and it’s been an eyesore ever since we moved in, so painting this wall and redoing the floors was just the refresh this space needed, and I’m so happy with how both projects turned out.
I finished the DIY quote wall just before my kiddos went back to in-person school after a whole year of virtual school at home. We battle a lot of anxiety in this house, me included…and this quote really spoke to me for how I want to set the tone for them for this year. It’s not until we actually take that leap (and potentially fall) that we realize we can fly.
DIY Wood Kitchen Table
When I saw Studio McGee’s Iva dining table I knew I had to have it but didn’t want to spend the $4,200. I decided to take on the challenge of building this table myself because I really loved the designer look of it. There’s nothing better than a DIY solid wood table that’s kid-friendly, durable, and functional all in one.
DIY Black Windows
Here are three ways to affordably DIY black windows – electrical tape straight on the window, Rustoleum primer and paint in one satin spray paint and thin pvc trim like from New Panes.

What a whirlwind of a week doing this makeover with the DIY Dream Team (Making Pretty Spaces and Frills and Drills) for our favorite couple in Atlanta.
