The latest area of my home I have been working on is my bedroom. My whole goal is to create a peaceful spot just for me and I could not be happier with how everything is turning out! My most recent project in this space was transforming an awkward nook into a beautiful electric fireplace feature wall. It has been a really fun project! I’m sharing the steps for this electric fireplace DIY with custom surround so that you can have one too!
People always ask me what I think about when I am designing a space. The biggest thing for me is finding elements that excite me. Seeing unique textures and accents in a home pique my interest, especially when they are rugs. I like finding rugs full of textures, colors, and patterns. It’s like adding in that perfect art piece to tie everything together. I’m always searching for the best modern rugs and I wanted to share my list of the best modern rugs for your home.
Do you ever look at your walls and think about the texture? No? Just me? There is a current trend going around to modernize a home by having smooth walls. But, paying someone to change the finish on your walls can be really expensive. Don’t you worry! I’ve always got you covered. Learning how to skim coat a textured wall is a very doable DIY project for any skill level.
Whenever I start a new project I always get asked what type of wood I’m using and how I chose it. It took me a long time to understand how to pick out the best wood and all of the different types. So I get it! Today I’ve put together everything I know about wood and I’m going to break down the 3 types of wood I use for DIY projects. Although it does depend on the project, I usually stick to using one of these: MDF (Medium-Density Fiberboard), plywood, or solid wood. Let’s get into it!
Over the last few years, I’ve spent countless hours renovating the spaces in my home. From an entire kitchen renovation to turning the closet under the stairs into a playroom for my kids (see those transformations here and here). After all of these projects, something was still missing. This small hallway downstairs was feeling bare and neglected. So, I decided to change that. Let me help you catch the vision for the modern hallway design I wanted to create. Keep reading to see how easy it is to take a hallway from boring to fresh and modern!

Are you ready to see the craziest floor transformation…and just with paint? Everyone has boring beige tile somewhere in their house, or maybe just some linoleum or vinyl that isn’t your favorite? It’s time to change that with my all time favorite DIY tool…paint! Check out this before and after and tutorial so you can learn how to paint your tile (or any floor really) with paint too.
I finally figured it out guys. This is life changing. I figured out a way to DIY a cement look fireplace for less than $100…and it isn’t a faux finish. All contractors quoted me $2,000 to $3,000 for their finishes, and so I am thrilled with the way this turned out. Okay, now let me help YOU achieve this finish also.
