Create a Space you Love: A How-To Guide

Create a Space you Love: A How-To Guide

I fully believe that everyone deserves to live in a home that they love. Whether you are currently living in your dream home or not, you can still love your space. Here’s how to create a space you love, no matter where you live.

Finding Your Style

The first step when we are talking about how to create a space you love is finding your style. Why is this so important? There are a few reasons:

  • Your space will feel (and look) more cohesive
  • It will help to prevent you from buying things you don’t need or love
  • Your home will become a place you love to be in

There are a lot of methods to use when it comes to finding your personal home style. One of the easiest ways is to use a platform like Pinterest to get inspiration. Pinterest is great because you can easily see how a lot of people have used the colors, furniture, kitchen cabinets, plants, etc. in their homes.

When I’m thinking about my next project, a lot of times I’ll check out Pinterest to see if anyone else has any tips for me. If you’ve followed me on Instagram, you know that I’ve taught myself most of what I know when it comes to DIY. Now I get to share what I’ve learned with you. So if you haven’t already, be sure to check out and follow my Pinterest account to see more of my DIY projects!

How to Create a Space You Love

Now that you’ve found your style and you’ve gathered some inspiration, it’s time to start creating a space you love. I almost forgot. One more important thing to remember! As you begin creating your spaces, it’s so important to stop caring about what other people think.

Everyone has an opinion on home style. And you know what? It really doesn’t matter what they think. The most important opinion is yours. Do you and your family (husband, partner, kids) love it? Perfect. That’s what matters!

A lot of the projects I’ve done in my home have been super fun for me to do because I knew that my family was going to love the end result. For instance, when I turned our dining room into a replica of the Hogwarts Dining Hall from Harry Potter, a lot of people didn’t understand why I would spend so much time on a temporary project like that. But you know what? Seeing my kids’ faces when we finished the room was worth all of the sweat and hard work it took to transform that space.

Other Spaces I Love in My Home

While we are talking about how to create a space you love, there’s another point I want to make sure you think about. Before you jump into a big remodel or DIY project in a space in your home, think about how that area functions for your family right now. What works? What doesn’t? How would you love for the space to function in the future?

When I redid my patio, a lot of people couldn’t understand why I was spending so much time redoing such a small area. But you know what? I knew that even though the area isn’t very big, it could be a really cool space to spend time with my family. So, I put in the sweat equity and transformed my patio into a space that my family loves to be in together. And I’m so glad I did those projects!

My kids are still young enough that building a cool, secret playroom under the stairs earns me major mom points. As they grow up, they won’t use it as much, but that’s one thing I love about creating spaces I love. I can change things up as my family grows and changes with time. What works for us now, won’t necessarily work for us 10 years from now. And that’s ok! In fact, it’s pretty awesome. Your home should reflect who you are at that time in your life.

The Importance of Creating a Space You Love

I may be biased, but I think it’s so important for you to create a space that you love. Whether that involves completely remodeling your kitchen or just buying some new throw pillows for your couch, you should feel happy in your home.
