Do you know someone who wants to make those Pinterest board dreams come true? Or someone who’s ready to pick up a few power tools? Are you that person? 3 years ago I started sharing my DIY projects on Instagram and what an amazing journey it’s been. Now I’m doing things like renovating my entire kitchen and turning my dining room into the Hogwarts Great Hall. It’s crazy. The best advice I have for the beginning DIYer is to just start. And to help I’ve got 8 gift ideas for the DIYer.

8 Gift Ideas For The DIYer

Home improvement tools may not be the first thing that comes to mind when you’re out Christmas shopping. But, they might just make the perfect gift for the DIYer in your life. Especially if they could use some encouragement to get going. So, I’ve put together a list of 8 gift ideas for the DIYer complete with all the tools I wouldn’t want to live without. You already know power tools made the list. They’re just too fun!

DIYer Gift #1 Cordless Brad Nailer

Let’s start out with this cordless brad nailer. I grabbed this tool during my Hogwarts Great Hall project when I used plywood to disguise some folding tables as wooden tables. You can get more details on that project here. A brad nailer is especially handy when fastening any kind of molding or cabinet trim. This one is even battery-powered, so that’s a bonus.

DIYer Gift #2 Sliding Miter Saw

I don’t know what it is but there’s something so satisfying about working with a sliding miter saw. It just cuts things so precise, and it’s the only saw I own. You can use it to cut wood, molding, etc. This saw would be a great gift idea for any DIYer.

DIYer Gift #3 Oscillating Multi-tool

Okay, this next one is pretty neat. An oscillating multi-tool says its purpose right in the name. Using quick movements it’s able to do things like cutting, sanding, grinding, etc. Definitely, a nice tool to have around for multiple projects.

DIYer Gift #4 Paint sprayer

One great way to change the look and feel of a space is by adding some paint. Sure you can grab a paintbrush or roller and get to work, but a paint sprayer sure does make things look seamless. This would be a great gift idea for the DIYer, especially for those furniture flippers out there.

DIYer Gift #5 Kreg Pocket Hole Jig

If you haven’t used a pocket hole jig before, it’s a game-changer. This tool allows you to join boards together with hidden holes so the finished project looks nicer. Plus with the screw going in at an angle, it creates a stronger hold. I’ve had my pocket hole jig forever and use it all the time.

DIYer Gift #6 Laser level

Now if you want to save a DIYer from a headache or two, get them this laser level. It comes in handy for so many projects I won’t list them all out. Just know it’s a great tool. There are a lot of different ones out there, but this is the one I’ve liked the best so far.

DIYer Gift #7 Clamp set

Okay, a clamp set is basically a necessity. Clamps are going to keep everything in place for woodworking and other projects. They really help projects turn out a lot more polished, as well as just making life easier. Trust me, you can never have too many clamps on hand!

DIYer Gift #8 Cordless drill

Maybe your DIYer friend already has a drill, but is it cordless? I love that I can take my drill anywhere around my house or yard and don’t have to worry about plugging it in. Just another thing I don’t have to think about as I’m creating. A drill isn’t just a DIY must-have but really a necessity for every home. It’s also nice to have a set with different drill bits like this one

Now, for the DIYer that may not be a total beginner…I’ve got a few more tools to share. Each one helps my projects run smoother and I would totally recommend them to anyone.

There are so many things that this Jig Saw (9) can do. And when you are changing light fixtures and hanging window treatments, you’ll be grateful you have a ladder (10) that can reach even the highest corners! If you’ve ever tried to drill into concrete or brick, you know how hard it can be. This Hammer Drill Kit (11) is a game-changer!

Does your favorite DIYer need a table saw that’s also portable? This DeWalt table saw (12) definitely fits the bill. While you’re at it, grab a DeWalt Orbit Sander (13), too! With all of this sawing and sanding, don’t forget to protect your eyes. I love these Safety Glasses (14) with the side shields because they come in a pack of two and are really comfortable.

My biggest tip for any DIY beginner? Get yourself a small paint pail (15) to save your hands when doing detail work.  I know I said earlier that you can never have too many clamps, and I mean it. I find myself reaching for this Kreg Tool Clamp (16) all the time.

If your favorite DIYer has some experience under their belt, this DeWalt Circular Saw (17) may be just the thing they want to see under the tree this year. And last but not least, this gift may seem odd if you aren’t big on DIY yourself, so just go with me for a minute. Have you ever wondered how to accurately measure an intricate pattern so you can make precision cuts? This Contour Gage (18) is the secret ingredient to those precision cuts! Bonus- it’s perfect for a stocking stuffer.
