How to Get Your Backyard Ready In Time For 4th of July

4th of July is right around the corner and summer is the peak season for backyard barbecues, graduation parties, and warm weather celebrations. If you’re planning (or thinking) about hosting a party this summer, you’re probably trying to get your backyard ready! People get so focused on preparing the food and drinks, they sometimes forget to decorate and care for their backyard. I have some tips to get your backyard celebration ready in time for the 4th of July!

Prepare Your Party Area

Whenever you host guests in your backyard, you want your yard to be neat and inviting. A power wash can wash away dust and pollen as well as any built-up dirt that will leave your space looking good as new. If you’ve been putting off trimming your bushes, trees, or hedges, now is a great time to get that out of the way and give yourself enough time to plan and decorate your space!

Outdoor Furniture

Take stock of what outdoor furniture you have and ask yourself some questions:

  • Do I have enough seating for my guests?
  • Is my furniture in good condition?
  • Will I need new seat cushions, pillows, or umbrellas?

If you’re in need of new outdoor furniture, no problem! I’ve rounded up some of my outdoor favorites that I have added to my backyard recently!

Clean And Maintain The Pool

It’s not too late to prepare your pool for the summer season! Hiring a professional pool service to clean your pool can get pricey. I recently found the BEST pool cleaner that saves you so much time, money, and makes life so much easier. The AIPER Seagull Pro Cordless Robotic Pool Cleaner will clean your floor, wall, and waterline! There are even three modes of cleaning that allow you to target those pesky trouble spots in your pool.

Outdoor Lighting

Assuming that your guests will stick around after the sun goes down for fireworks and smores, it’s probably a good idea to get some good outdoor lighting. Light up your yard with twinkle lights, tiki torches, lanterns, and candles!

Decorations

Grab your kids and get creative with your Independence Day decor (and maybe even DIY some too!)

  • Paint some flower pots in red, white, and blue.
  • DIY a 4th of July wreath.
  • Use ribbon to create a patriotic banner.

I’ve created an Amazon list of simple decor ideas to get your patio looking super patriotic without breaking the bank.

Activities

If your guest list is going to include children, you’ll want to ensure you have enough activities to keep the little ones entertained. If you have a pool, you may want to think about getting a floating basketball hoop, water toys, and pool noodles or floaties. If you guys are following me on Instagram, you’ve probably seen me post about reusable water balloons! And *hint hint* they’ll be a fan favorite.

You also might want to think about non-water-based activities like chalk, bubbles, or coloring pages! I just created my own Ford Bronco coloring pages for you guys to share with your kids to create your own custom Bronco! *Download here*

I hope I have inspired you to create a beautiful backyard setting for your next summer celebration, happy 4th of July!
