I am so excited to share this DIY large wall art tutorial with you! I love art, and large art…but I don’t love the price tag. I came up with a way to make custom DIY large wall art and all for $40 and in a couple hours. I used a wall tapestry from society6, mounted it on a frame, and then built a floating frame around it. Now it’s your turn to build one (make sure you tag me @angelarosehome so I can see your projects and share some of my favorites!) Also, I keep helpful video tutorials saved to my story highlights on my instagram @angelarosehome.
One Room Challenge: ROOM REVEAL
It’s done it’s done. I am so thrilled with how affordable this room turned out for the One Room Challenge. It was my first time participating since I only started my Instagram @angelarosehome account 6 months ago. I had a total blast! With my DIY closet doors, accent wall, and window framing, it was such a labor of love but so worth it. And what I love most about it, is that anyone can do it. I have all the tutorials (including the accent wall) saved to my @angelarosehome Instagram story highlights.
One Room Challenge: Week 5
YES! I am so excited about this affordable transformation for the One Room Challenge.
This is an affordable and easy way to transform your gold mirrored closet doors, or any lame closet door…and for only $15!

One Room Challenge: Week 4
This week was productive for the One Room Challenge, but there isn’t much to show for it. I had to repaint the wall because it was too dark. I actually ended up going with Essex Green…it’s a gorgeous black green!
I also started planning the closet makeover (tutorial to come next week). Trying to figure out a way to cover up the mirrored closet doors. Here is my original idea.
One Room Challenge: Week 3
Week 3 of One Room Challenge is done! The room is painted! I ended up choosing a deep green called Essex Green by Benjamin Moore.
I used this paint sprayer to get the smoothest finish possible. Prepping was also made easier by this cool plastic with tape attached to it!
One Room Challenge: Week 2
I am excited for my week 2 update for One Room Challenge! I finished this accent wall and it is ready for paint! I drew out the plans for this wall on some graph paper, and then adjusted it slightly as I went. It was actually way easier than board and batten. Check out my instagram where I am going to save all my how-to stories to my story highlights!
One Room Challenge: Modern Boy Bedroom Redo
Alright! It’s happening. I am entering the One Room Challenge! For the next 6 weeks, I will be doing a complete makeover of my son’s bedroom…and I am so excited to share this transformation with you. Like always, I will be doing all the DIYs myself…and with all my power tools. I have big plans for a modern accent wall, new beds, closet redo etc. I would love for you to follow along. Now let’s start this thing (and follow along @angelarosehome)
How to DIY a Board and Batten Wall: Dos and Don’ts
It’s all here! What TO do, and what NOT to do for the most professional-looking board and batten wall! I now want one in every room in my house :). First of all, board and batten basically just means putting wood/mdf strips on your wall in a pattern or design! I love it because is an affordable way (only$150!) to give a space character, add a focal point, and elevate your space.
Now let’s all build a board and batten wall!
DIY Upholstered Wingback Headboard for $80
Let’s play a little game. What takes a sheet of plywood, one XL twin mattress pad, and a pair of curtain panels? THIS headboard! I’ve been wanting a headboard for a while now, and finally decided it was time to take matters into my own hands and stop waiting until I could save up for a dream one $$$. And I love how this turned out. Here is the whole tutorial so you can build one too (and it’s NO SEW)!
The Only 5 Tools You Really Need
I wish I had a huge assortment of tools and a huge gorgeous garage workshop. The truth is, I am using the most basic versions of just a few tools and I mostly work on my garage floor…BUT, I’ve still been able to get by building built-ins, wall moldings, shelves, furniture etc. with just 5 power tools. So here’s a quick list of the ONLY 5 TOOLS YOU REALLY NEED to get going on almost any home improvement project.
