I am so excited to share this DIY large wall art tutorial with you! I love art, and large art…but I don’t love the price tag. I came up with a way to make custom DIY large wall art and all for $40 and in a couple hours. I used a wall tapestry from society6, mounted it on a frame, and then built a floating frame around it. It’s done it’s done. I am so thrilled with how affordable this room turned out for the One Room Challenge. It was my first time participating since I only started my Instagram @angelarosehome account 6 months ago. I had a total blast! With my DIY closet doors, accent wall, and window framing, it was such a labor of love but so worth it. And what I love most about it, is that anyone can do it. This is an affordable and easy way to transform your gold mirrored closet doors, or any lame closet door…and for only $15!

This week was productive for the One Room Challenge, but there isn’t much to show for it. I had to repaint the wall because it was too dark. I actually ended up going with Essex Green…it’s a gorgeous black green!

I also started planning the closet makeover (tutorial to come next week). Trying to figure out a way to cover up the mirrored closet doors. Here is my original idea. 

Week 3 of One Room Challenge is done! The room is painted! I ended up choosing a deep green called Essex Green by Benjamin Moore.

I used this paint sprayer to get the smoothest finish possible. Prepping was also made easier by this cool plastic with tape attached to it!

I am excited for my week 2 update for One Room Challenge! I finished this accent wall and it is ready for paint! I drew out the plans for this wall on some graph paper, and then adjusted it slightly as I went. It was actually way easier than board and batten. Alright! It’s happening. I am entering the One Room Challenge! For the next 6 weeks, I will be doing a complete makeover of my son’s bedroom…and I am so excited to share this transformation with you. Like always, I will be doing all the DIYs myself…and with all my power tools. I have big plans for a modern accent wall, new beds, closet redo etc. I would love for you to follow along. Let’s play a little game. What takes a sheet of plywood, one XL twin mattress pad, and a pair of curtain panels? THIS headboard! I’ve been wanting a headboard for a while now, and finally decided it was time to take matters into my own hands and stop waiting until I could save up for a dream one $$$. And I love how this turned out. Here is the whole tutorial so you can build one too (and it’s NO SEW)!
